Gray's Favourite Therapy Quote:
“When we hold the soul with an open mind, we may find the messages that lie within our most uncomfortable feelings - and the necessary changes they request of us.” - Thomas Moore
I view therapy as a creative collaboration between you and I, one built on strong rapport and a foundation of trust, safety, and respect. Working together, I invite you to explore the deeper meanings and undercurrents of your life experiences, drawing on them for valuable insights toward self-knowledge, guidance, healing, and purposefulness.
Practice Areas
I feel inspired to work with a wide spectrum of varying client populations, including with issues related to anxiety, depression & emotion regulation; relationship patterns, styles & conflicts; work strain, burnout, self-care; self-growth & self-development; sense of meaning, purpose & wellbeing, and others. Trauma is one focus of my practice; I understand that bodies, in addition to words, can register and express our important experiences, and hold wisdom for healing. I appreciate working in the ‘here-and-now’, at times utilizing in-session experiences as an opportunity for growth and healing.
Education & Experience
My practice at Ottawa Psychotherapy Center is finding me applying skills and other expertise while I work toward attaining certification as a practitioner of Psychotherapy, and further hone my specialties. I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and advancing my training in body-based trauma modalities. I also draw on over 15 years as a client of therapy myself. I am fortunate to currently work under the Clinical Supervision of Reesa Packard, Ph.D., RP, Registered Psychotherapist.
Therapeutic Approach
I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including humanistic, relational, somatic (body-based), narrative, and existential perspectives. I also hold a strong awareness of how cultural and systemic forces impact our individual identities, and strive to let this awareness inform how I approach therapy and the therapeutic alliance between myself and the person I am treating.
About Gray
I am a father, partner, brother, son, friend, artist, athlete, and seeker. My family is the bedrock of my life and inspires my own desire to heal and grow. I absolutely love and value creativity; piano, guitar, singing, and percussion are a few of my favourite avenues through which I express my life experiences. Swimming, yoga, x-country skiing, city biking, and time spent outdoors are top priorities too. If lost, find me cooking in the kitchen!
Gray is currently not accepting new clients.
