Sandra's Favourite Therapy Quote:

"Healing comes from letting there be room for all of “this” to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy." -Pema Chödrön

There is something very natural about experiencing struggles in life, and having support gives us the courage we need to face our challenges as opportunities for learning & growth. Whatever your unique situation may be, I am here to listen and guide you in dealing with the experiences and stressors that you want to work through to improve your well-being. My style is down-to-earth and relational, and my aim is to offer a space where acceptance and understanding are the foundation for meaningful conversations about the things that are important to you.

Practice Areas

I work with individuals age 16+ and my practice areas include the following: life stressors related to school, work, or relationships; mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression; identity, self-worth, and family-of-origin issues; grief & loss; spirituality and existential issues; as well as life transitions, such as ageing & retirement.
My work is person-centred and trauma-informed. I am open to supporting my clients in addressing what is most important to them, whether it be to simply have a non-judgmental space where they can speak freely about their experiences, to reduce emotional distress and improve coping skills, to strengthen their sense of confidence and balance in life, or go deeper in changing underlying patterns of thinking & behaviour that hold them back from being able to truly thrive in life.

Education & Experience

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from Concordia University and a Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from McGill University. With 25+ years of experience in the mental health field, I have developed a solid foundation for working with adults of various ages from diverse backgrounds experiencing a wide range of personal & social challenges. I have done crisis work and provided short-term counselling in various settings. I started my psychotherapy practice 6 years ago.
I identify as a life-long learner and I am committed to ongoing personal & professional development, as I believe this is an essential part of being well-equipped to work with others.

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is integrative and intuitive, starting with a compassionate stance in developing a relationship of trust with my clients. I draw on various theoretical modalities and I work collaboratively with my clients in tailoring sessions according to their needs. As a social worker, I see great value in providing psycho-educational materials as a way of resourcing people with information & knowledge that is relevant to their situation. I also have experience with mindfulness practices and I see great value in integrating these into therapy when suitable as well.

About Sandra

When I’m not working, you will most likely find me relaxing at home with my partner or playing outside with our dogs. I also enjoy seeing friends & family, spending time in nature, and going to live music performances.
Doing volunteer work with Hospice Care Ottawa and being part of a spiritual community with Kadampa Meditation Centre Ottawa are also very meaningful activities that contribute to a sense of fulfillment in my life.
