Cheryl's Favourite Therapy Quote:

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” - James Baldwin

Many people come to therapy feeling exhausted from holding everything together, questioning themselves, or wondering why things feel harder than they seem to for everyone else. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, curious, and fully human. Therapy is not about having the “right” answers, but about making space for understanding, healing, and change at your own pace.

Practice Areas

I enjoy working with adolescents (16+), adults, and older adults navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and periods of feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves or others. I also support clients experiencing identity shifts, caregiving stress, chronic health concerns, trauma, and challenges related to pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting.

Sometimes what we are struggling with can be difficult to name or fully understand. Whether you come to therapy with a clear goal or simply a sense that something feels difficult or uncertain, you are welcome. You do not need to have everything figured out to begin.

Education & Experience

I hold a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa. My clinical experience includes working in community mental health settings with adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing a wide range of concerns. I have experience providing individual counselling, intake support, walk-in counselling services, and co-facilitating an anger management group. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in healthcare for over 15 years as a dental hygienist, where I developed a strong appreciation for empathy, trust, and helping people feel safe and supported in vulnerable situations.
I practice under the supervision of Victoria Martindale, MEd, RP, CCC

Therapeutic Approach

My approach to therapy is integrative and tailored to each client’s individual needs and goals. I draw from Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and person-centred approaches within a trauma-informed framework.
I view therapy as a collaborative process and strive to help clients better understand themselves, develop self-compassion, build emotional awareness, and move toward the values, relationships, and ways of living that feel most meaningful to them.

About Cheryl

Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, travelling, and being outdoors, whether that’s in the garden or exploring Ottawa’s many trails. I value authenticity, curiosity, and meaningful connection both personally and professionally. I appreciate quiet moments, thoughtful conversation, a good cup of coffee, and cozy evenings at home with my family and oversized “lap dog.”
