Deanna's Favourite Therapy Quote

“It’s a privilege to be able to bear witness to someone’s story when they may not have had the chance to tell it before.” -Lindy Alexander

Welcome to your journey towards inner healing and fulfillment. I admire your courage in confronting the challenges you are facing, and I want you to know you are not alone. Together we can cultivate a safe and restorative space where you explore your strengths and develop new skills in navigating life’s issues. Our time together is not just about finding solutions to immediate concerns but also about nurturing a deeper sense of peace and contentment that resonates from within.

Practice Areas

My professional background encompasses diverse practice areas, allowing me to provide customized support that aligns with my clients' needs. With a strong commitment and a background in trauma-informed care, I support and empower individuals who have experienced sexual violence and exploitation, helping them navigate their path to healing. Parenthood, infertility, pregnancy loss, and postpartum challenges are areas where I provide compassionate support, guided by my own lived experience. I also work with clients struggling with self-esteem, burnout, stress, boundaries, queer identities, relationship issues, and life transitions, guiding them toward balance and self-compassion. Lastly, I have experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and attachment-related concerns, as well as supporting individuals navigating grief and loss with the goal of empowering clients to overcome obstacles and thrive.

Education & Experience

I have a Psychology degree with a minor in Sexuality Studies and an Honours Social Work degree, both from Carleton University. I also hold a Masters in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University and am currently working under the Clinical Supervision of Sara Coyle, MSW.

Throughout my professional journey, I have worked with diverse populations and supported a variety of issues including people who are experiencing homelessness, individuals involved with the criminal justice system, child welfare and anti-human trafficking.

Therapeutic Approach

In my practice, I utilize a variety of clinical modalities to best meet the unique needs of each individual. With a relational approach at the core, I draw from psychodynamic theories, humanistic principles, and trauma-informed practices to create a safe and supportive environment. By integrating elements of CBT and DBT, I also help clients gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while equipping them with practical skills for coping and self-regulation. Within the clinical frameworks, we can form a therapeutic alliance which serves as the foundation of our work together, providing a nurturing space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. Through our collaborative partnership, we can explore what approaches feel right for you on your journey to inner peace.

About Deanna

When I have the opportunity to slow down and enjoy life's pleasures, I find myself outside, checking out events in the city and being with loved ones. I play golf in the summer and hibernate in the winter. I would consider myself a foodie and am always excited to cook a delicious meal or try a new restaurant. Moving my body is important and I engage in yoga, hikes and dancing. Rest is just as important and I do this by watching reality tv shows, reading or listening to a podcast.
