Emma's Favourite Therapy Quote:

"We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy." - Joseph Campbell

In this ever-changing modern world, a whirlwind of demands, both new and old, can make life challenging and, at times, feel overwhelming. We’ve all been there. In simply visiting our website, you’ve decided to initiate positive personal change to create a better life for yourself. I am already proud of you for taking the time to explore the world of therapy on your own terms!

Practice Areas

Sometimes, when starting with a new therapist or embarking on a therapeutic journey for the first time, it can be difficult to figure out exactly what life domains we are struggling with. I am here to help you identify, and work through, challenges that are negatively impacting your life, be they personal, social and/or work- or school-related. I welcome adults and adolescents above the age of 16 experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, disordered eating, family and relationship conflicts, work stress, and COVID-19 fatigue, among other mental health-related issues, to my practice. I also have a special interest in helping people from culturally and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds, as well as those of the LGBTQ+ community.

Education & Experience

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours) with a concentration in Developmental Psychology from Carleton University, as well as a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I have previous experience as a counsellor at Kanata-Stittsville Counselling and the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships (CFIR) in Ottawa.

I am currently under the supervision of Dr. Reesa Packard, Ph.D., RP, Registered Psychotherapist & Approved Clinical Supervisor via the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Therapeutic Approach

I believe in the transformative power and value of the therapeutic relationship, and work collaboratively with clients to set achievable goals and maintain lasting change. By offering a safe and welcoming therapeutic environment, clients can feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I use an integrative theoretical approach that may include (though is not limited to) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic Theories, and mindfulness-based therapies.

About Emma

A passion of mine is spending time connecting with animals and nature! I currently foster palliative care dogs to provide them with a comfortable, loving, and meaningful end-of-life experience. I also enjoy birdwatching, mindful walks through forests and, when I return to city, drinking tea, attending drag shows, listening to any and all types of music, and discovering and supporting the works of local artists.
