Fran's Favourite Therapy Quote:

“Every time we ask a question, we’re generating a possible version of a life.” - David Epston

Welcome. Thank you for arriving at my page. It is a positive step to decide to talk with someone. Now you can consider what you want and need from therapy and a therapist. I believe in creating a safe and welcoming space to talk, listening with respect and care, and working together to seek solutions to what brought you here, so that you can find ways to live your best life possible.

Practice Areas

I enjoy working with individuals from all ages and backgrounds, whatever challenges have arisen. I have experience working with anxious and depressed feelings, difficulty with control over emotions, problems arising from past experiences, current crises over relationship, career and motivation, coming to terms with grief, and LGBTQ+ issues. I focus on building self-awareness, exploring where issues may be getting “stuck”, and developing new ways of being and doing that can lead to more workable solutions for your life and needs.

Education & Experience

I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University while practicing under the Clinical Supervision of Reesa Packard, Ph.D., RP, at the Ottawa Psychotherapy Center. I am retired from my previous career but returning to the study of psychotherapy as a calling which has deep meaning for me. As an older person, I draw on lived experience, from difficulties such as surviving cancer and dealing with aging, loss and death, to finding resilience and new paths to follow.

Therapeutic Approach

I align as much as possible my approaches to working with you and with your present circumstances and needs. I draw from psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive-behavioural therapies as well as elements ranging from Narrative Therapy to mindfulness and guided imagery techniques. I consider that you, as client, are a co-creator of the therapeutic process, and I can at times encourage helpful self-therapy work such as journal writing, in parallel to our therapeutic process together.

About Fran

I enjoy walking, hiking, and being outdoors. My partner and I spend as much time as we can at a small cabin where wilderness, woods, wind and water create a healing tranquility that lets us better take on life’s challenges. I also care about reading, writing, learning, and incorporating creativity into as many areas of life as possible. I value the time we have to be with others.
