“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending” – C.S. Lewis

Thank you for taking these first steps in reaching out—you're not alone. As a bilingual (English/French) psychotherapist, I offer individual, couple, and family therapy in a supportive and culturally sensitive space. Whether you're facing anxiety, life transitions, relational challenges, or seeking deeper meaning, I’m here to walk with you. I tailor each session to your unique needs, drawing on approaches like SFBT, CBT, and EFT. Together, we’ll explore what healing, growth, and balance can look like for you.

Practice Areas

I provide individual, couple, and family therapy, and enjoy working with clients across the lifespan, including children and adolescents. I completed a certificate in Working with Children and Adolescents: Clinical Interventions for Contemporary Issues from the Mental Health Academy in the USA. I commonly support clients facing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and cultural or spiritual challenges. I work particularly well with newcomers, students, and families dealing with migration or identity-related issues. My integrative approach draws from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I also facilitate discussion groups on wellness and spirituality. I offer services in English and French, both online and in person, with a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity, clinical rigor, and client empowerment.

Education & Experience

I hold a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy (Counselling and Spirituality) from Saint Paul University and a Master’s in Theology from the University of Toronto. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO. My clinical experience includes working at the Saint Paul University Counselling Centre and Capital Choice Counselling Group, providing individual, couple, and family therapy. I currently practice privately in Ottawa. I also completed a certificate in working with children and adolescents (Mental Health Academy, USA). My clinical supervisor is Buuma Maisha.

Therapeutic Approach

I use an integrative and client-centered approach, drawing primarily from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I adapt my interventions to meet each client’s unique needs, goals, and cultural background. I work collaboratively to foster insight, emotional regulation, and concrete change. In sessions with children and adolescents, I incorporate developmentally appropriate strategies, including play-informed and psychoeducational tools. My practice is grounded in empathy, active listening, and cultural sensitivity, with a focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance and supporting client autonomy and empowerment throughout the healing process.

About Pétain Ravel

Outside of therapy, I’m a curious soul who loves deep conversations, world music, and long walks in nature. Having lived on three continents, I’m passionate about culture, food, and the stories that connect us. I enjoy reading philosophy and reflecting on life’s big questions over a good cup of tea. Whether I’m gardening or journaling, I find joy in simple things and moments of quiet connection.
