Rebeca's Favourite Therapy Quote:
"Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously." - Prentis Hemphil
Stress, anxiety, depression, interpersonal challenges and hardships are difficult to manage as they are, you don’t have to do it alone. It can be daunting to reach out for support, and I commend you for taking the first steps.
The relationship we create as therapist and client is of utmost importance to me. Collaboratively, we will focus on developing a trusting, genuine and honest dynamic so you feel comfortable and safe during our time together.
Practice Areas
I specialize in treating individuals experiencing anxiety, depression or other mood-related disorders. I also have experience working with clients with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I am passionate about working with individuals who have experienced trauma in the form of childhood abuse/neglect, sexual abuse and abusive relationships. I also have experience working with individuals processing grief, divorce, major life transitions and infertility.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am deeply committed to helping folks from minority groups and creating safe and inclusive spaces. I work with clients on a variety of topics such as gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, non-monogamy and kink.
Education & Experience
I have a Joint Honours in Sociology and Women's Studies from the University of Ottawa and a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
I practiced under the supervision of Reesa Packard, Ph.D., R.P. at the start of my career. I have worked at the Center for Interpersonal Relationship (CFIR) and have collaborated with the Ottawa Rape Crisis Center (ORCC).
Therapeutic Approach
My primary goal is to support you in living your most authentic and purposeful life. You are the expert of your own experience and I highly value your collaboration in the psychotherapeutic process. As a result, I work from a person-centered and integrative therapeutic approach. I believe in creating individualized treatment plans tailored to your needs by drawing from theories of attachment-based, existential-humanistic, psychodynamic, mindulness-based, trauma-focused, emotion-focused and cognitive behavioural (CBT) therapies.
About Rebeca
When I am not working, you will find me outside either hiking mountains or running. Sunshine and movement keep me grounded. Vanilla iced coffees and sushi never fail to make me smile. I love cats and would adopt too many of them if I could.
I feel most centered in my purpose when I spend time learning about others' stories and connecting with them, both in and out of sessions.
