Rebeca's Favourite Therapy Quote:

"Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously." - Prentis Hemphil

Being a human, especially an adult one, can be hard. The process of reaching out for help and finding a therapist you connect with can feel daunting. I am here to support you. Together we will explore your goals and how I can support you in beginning to live your best life. We will create a therapeutic environment that feels safe, comfortable, non-judgmental and where you can be your authentic self. I am a clinician and director at the Ottawa Psychotherapy Center. I support couples and individuals in my practice.

Practice Areas

My treatment areas include: trauma (PTSD & CPTSD), depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, attachment and relationship issues, complicated family dynamics, sexuality, self-esteem, non-monogamy, women's issues and self-development.

In my couples work, I aim to help you improve your communication, increase your understanding of each other and help you break free from your old relationship patterns. I aim to build an alliance with both of you and support you in becoming a team again.

I am deeply committed to helping folks from minority groups and creating safe and inclusive spaces. I work with clients on a variety of topics such as gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, non-monogamy and kink.

Education & Experience

I have a Joint Honours in Sociology and Women's Studies from the University of Ottawa and a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

I have been in private practice for over 5 years and feel passionate about the work I do. I continue to seek opportunities to learn and develop as a clinician, through courses, peer-consultations, supervisions and research.

Therapeutic Approach

My primary goal is to support you in living your most authentic and purposeful life. You are the expert of your own experience and I highly value your collaboration in the psychotherapeutic process. As a result, I work from a person-centered and attachment-based lens.

For individual psychotherapy, my primary modalities are Eye Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and emotion-focused psychotherapy.

In my couples work I work from a Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) which focuses on the nervous system and attachment theory.

About Rebeca

When I am not working, you will find me outside either hiking mountains or running. Sunshine and movement keep me grounded. Vanilla iced coffees and sushi never fail to make me smile. I love cats and would adopt too many of them if I could.

I feel most centered in my purpose when I spend time learning about others' stories and connecting with humans, both in and out of sessions.
